Toot & Puddle

I found this story adorable. Maybe because I can relate so much to wondering if someone will like a present from me! Toot and Puddle are sweet, relateable characters. And the parrot totally reminded me of Swallows and Amazons.

Lucy Maud Montgomery

Anne of Green Gables

If I were pressed to pick a single favorite author, only one, I would without a doubt choose Lucy Maud Montgomery. I don't even remember when I first read one of her books, but I do remember reading the entire Anne series in a week. I love her other books too, such as Kilmany of the Orchard and The Blue Castle. When I was a teenager, I just loved the Emily books. I felt that I connected with Emily of New Moon through the pages. They are not my favorites now (though I still love them). But Anne Shirley......though her personality and mine are almost completele opposites.....I just can't ever stop loving. I regularly re-read the entire series from Anne of Green Gables to Rilla of Ingleside about once every two or three years. I just started with Anne of Green Gables last week and I can't wait to delve into the whole series again.

Have you ever read Lucy Maud Montgomery?
What is your favorite of her books?

71 Picture Books to Read This Summer

I was homeschooled all the way from preschool through 12th grade.
I’m sure you can imagine, I read a lot. I mean, a lot. In fact, my mom had a designated reading hour every afternoon. The youngest little ones who were still napping daily were put to bed, and then we would bring piles of library books out to the couch. My mom would read us picture book after picture book while we brushed her hair for her. It was quite a good plan for all involved!

Here are some summer favorites. 71 is a big number. Can you believe I had to cut some, and condense my original list? It contained 214!!!!
